RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man convicted of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance has been sentenced.
Cory Croyle, 37, cooperated with others to distribute large quantities of fentanyl and heroin in and around Rapid City between 2021 and 2023. This drug conspiracy caused the death of a community member.
Croyle was indicted on two counts of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance by a federal grand jury in September of 2023. He pleaded guilty on March 20, 2024 and was sentenced on August 29.

In sentencing Croyle, Judge Karen E. Schreier cited the scale of the conspiracy, Croyle’s significant role in the enterprise, his knowledge of the dangers posed by fentanyl, his disregard for the safety of others, his efforts to obstruct the investigation and the fact that he was already on parole at the time of the offense.
Cory Croyle was ultimately sentenced to 33 years and 4 months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release, He was also ordered to pay $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Croyle was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service after his sentencing.
