RAPID CITY, S.D. – Dangerous heat will descend upon the area today, with heat-related warnings out.
A heat advisory is up for Rapid City with an excessive heat warning up for the plains.
Forecasters say heat index values of 104 are expected in the advisory area with heat indexes up to 110 in the excessive heat warning area.
With this type of heat, drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
