SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Track and field events continued today at the South Dakota State Track and Field Meet at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls.
The boys and girls 3,200 meters was run today in all three classes.
In AA girls, Ali Bainbridge of SF Lincoln captured first place with Brionna Holso of Rapid City Stevens finishing in second. Payton VanDeest of Spearfish finished in fourth and Gracie Uhrie of Stevens placed fifth.
In Class A, Sioux Valley’s Isabelle Bloker edged out Corinne Braun of Sioux Falls Christian by three seconds.
And in Class B, Chester’s Emery Larson brought home the gold.
In the AA boys race, Simeon Birnbaum of Rapid City Stevens added to his growing number of medals by winning in a time of 9:22.96. His teammate Grady Loos came in third and Deron Graf of Sturgis placed seventh.
In Class A, Sawyer Clarkson of Belle Fourche brings home the state 3,200 meter title. Luke Rupert of Hill City was third and Lane Krautschun of Belle Fourche was fourth.
In Class B, Josiah Schroeder of Canistota took the gold. Two Philip Scotties finish in the top six with Wakley Burns in fifth and Baylor Burns in sixth.
The 800 meters was also run today in all three classes with Simeon Birnbaum picking up another gold, winning the boys Class AA race in a time of 1:52.02. Sioux Falls Christian claimed the Class A race as Issac Davelear wins first and in Class B, Caleb Richmond of Wolsey-Wessington wins gold.
In the girls races, Mia Wentzy of Brandon Valley won in Class AA, Berkely Engelland of Mount Vernon/Plankinton wins in Class A and Reese Luze of Colman-Egan wins in Class B.
In field events, Wall’s Rylan McDonnell gets another first place medal, winning the boys Class A Long Jump and Custer’s Ciana Stiefel wins the girls Class A pole vault title.
Ex-Douglas Patriot Jason Maciejczak won the boys Class AA shot put title for Pierre and Braden Delahoyde of Spearfish captured third in the Class AA high jump.
And, Aiden Hedderman of Sturgis brought home fifith place in the boys pole vault.
Team Scores after day 2 have O’Gorman leading Class AA Boys with Sioux Falls Christian leading Class A. The Belle Fourche Broncs are in second in Class A and Stevens is second in Class AA. Leading Class B is Menno.
On the girls side, Sioux Falls Christian continues to lead Class A with O’Gorman on top in Class AA and Chester leads Class B.
