DEADWOOD, S.D. – According to statistics released last Friday by the South Dakota Commission on Gaming, Deadwood’s August 2022 gaming handle was up 16.60 percent over August of 2021, with slot machine handle increasing by 17.75 percent, when compared to August of 2021. The table game handle decreased by 2.97 percent when compared to 2021 August’s table game handle. Deadwood’s sports wagering recorded $266,673 in wagers in August. Deadwood gaming operators rewarded players with $1,342,208 in “free-play” for the month of August, leaving taxable adjusted gross revenues of $14,939,792 for August of 2022.
“August’s strong performance pushed gaming revenues into positive territory for the year,” said Mike Rodman, executive director of the Deadwood Gaming Association. “We are thrilled to see 2022 numbers matching 2021’s record breaking year.”
Deadwood just completed its first year of sports wagering with $6,651,571 in sports wagers.
