PIERRE, S.D. – The Department of Health on Tuesday released three days’ worth of COVID-19 numbers, and the numbers continued to show an upward trend in new cases.
Health officials reported 3,047 new COVID-19 cases with 572 of those listed as probable.
For the first time since December of 2020, active cases in the state have surpassed 10,000 to 10,573.
There are 261 hospitalized because of the virus.
Four new deaths were part of today’s report, sending the state’s death toll to 2,498.
Pennington County had the most new cases in the Black Hills region, reporting 372 with 48 of those considered as probable.
Lawrence County had 55 new cases and Meade County had 56 new cases with 2 of those considered probable.
Oglala Lakota County had the second biggest new caseload Tuesday, reporting 35 confirmed cases and 25 listed as probable for a total of 60.
Elsewhere, Custer County reported 24 new cases, Fall River County added 15 and Butte County had 12.
