Department of Health’s Friday COVID-19 Report – 320 new cases; five new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – The number of new COVID-19 cases in Friday’s report from the Department of Health showed 320 total with 53 of those considered as probable.

Active cases continued their decrease Friday – down 95 from Thursday to 5,868.

The number of people hospitalized due to the virus tumbled to below 200 at 185.

Seven new COVID-19 related deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,189. Three of the new deaths were reported out of Pennington County. Jones County also reported one of the new deaths.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 43 confirmed new cases and 5 considered as probable.

Custer County had the next highest amount with 7 and Meade County reported 6 new cases.

Elsewhere, Butte County tallied 4 new cases, Fall River and Oglala Lakota County each reported 3 and Lawrence County had just 2 new cases.
