PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 69 new positive tests for COVID-19 in its Wednesday report.
Cases included 4 in Pennington County, 2 in Oglala Lakota County and 1 in Meade County. The 2 in Oglala Lakota County were announced by the Oglala Sioux Tribe’s COVID-19 Response Task Force.
State Epidemiologist Joshua Clayton confirmed one of the new cases in Pennington County was related to another case in a worker at a Wal-Mart, but says neither case has had an exposure risk to the public.
Other new cases today include 39 in Minnehaha, 11 in Brown, 2 each in Moody and Yankton and one each in Charles Mix, Clay, Codington, Grant and Todd Counties.
Active cases in South Dakota are now at 1,326, an increase of 11 from Tuesday.
Recoveries reached 2,367, up 58 from Tuesday (2,309).
Current hospitalizations are at 79, up five from Tuesday and the total hospitalizations are now at 281, up 10 from Tuesday.
Negative tests are now at 22,112, up 578 from Tuesday (21,534). 647 new negative tests were reported.
The number of deaths remained at 39 Wednesday.
