DOH reports 83 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday

PIERRE, S.D. – The state department of health reported an uptick in the number of new COVID-19 cases Wednesday.

Health officials say 84 new positive tests were reported today, sending the state’s number of active cases up 9 from yesterday to 829. The cumulative total in South Dakota is 6,050.

There was also a new death reported – a male from Lincoln County in the 80-plus age group.

In the Black Hills area, Pennington County saw 22 new cases sending their active caseload to 163 with 424 cumulative.

Lawrence County also reported a new case – the first one in over a week. Lawrence County now has 2 active cases of COVID-19.

 Meade County reported no new cases today and their active caseload is 17.

The number of people hospitalized in the state due to COVID-19 is down one to 91 today.
