Douglas Early Bird opens Cross Country season

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota High School Cross Country season opened up Friday with the annual Douglas Early Bird Meet.

Winning the boys race was Sawyer Clarkson of Belle Fourche with a time of 16:26.73. Lane Krautschun of Belle Fourche came in second and Hill City’s Luke Rupert placed third.

Top placing Sturgis Scooper was Morgan Pappenfuss, finishing in 6th with a time of 18:13.57.

Winning the girls race was Briono Holso of Rapid City Stevens with a time of 19:46.26. Peyton VanDeest of Spearfish finished in second and Ramsey Karim of Custer was third.

Top placing Scooper was Lucy Hamer in 1oth.
