Douglas Early Bird Track and Field Meet held Saturday

BOX ELDER, S.D. – Athletes competed in the Douglas Early Bird Track and Field Meet on Saturday in Box Elder.

On the boys side, Custer’s Blake Boyster won two of the races – capturing first place in the 200 and 400 meters.

Justin Juniel of Rapid City Stevens won the 100 meters, Simeon Birnbaum of Stevens captured the 800, Keenan Urdiales of Spearfish won the 1,600 meters and Morgan Papenfuss of Sturgis took first place in the 3,200 meters.

In the hurdles, Mikael Grace of Custer won both the 110 and 300 meters.

In the boys’ relay races, Rapid City Stevens won the 4 x 100 and the 4 x 200. Spearfish captured the 4 x 400 with Sturgis in second, and Custer won the 4 x 800.

In boys’ field events, Jason Maciejczak of Douglas won both the shot put and discus throw. Custer’s Dossen Elmore of Custer won the javelin with Konnor Berndt of Sturgis in second.

Brayden Delahoyde of Spearfish won the high jump, Chase Maher of Rapid City Christian claimed the pole vault, Aiden Giffen of Belle Fourche captured the long jump and Issac Flanegan of Rapid City Central won the triple jump.

On the girls’ side, there were six different winners in the running events.

Matayah Yellow Mule of Rapid City Central won the 100 meters, Jayda McNabb of Rapid City Stevens captured the 200 meters, Novali Dinkins of Sturgis took the 400 meters, Jade Ecoffey of Red Cloud won the 800 meters and Hailey Uhre of Rapid City Stevens won the 1,600 meters. Gracie Uhre of Stevens took the long distance, 3,200 meter run.

In the hurdles, Baylee Van Zee of Stevens won the 110 meters while Anna Hoffman of Spearfish won the 300.

In the relay races, Stevens won the 4 x 100, 4 x 200 and 4 x 400. Hill City won the 4 x 800.

In the field events, Kellyn Kortemeyer of Custer won the shot put and discus. Brynn Nelson of Stevens won the javelin, Rebecca Shuck of Kadoka claimed the high jump, Emily Adams of Stevens captured the pole vault, Matayah Yellow Mule of Central won the long jump and Megan Baloun of Stevens won the triple jump.
