Douglas Frank Paklin
August 8, 1961 – February 20, 2023
There is a saying to “Live every day as if it were your last”, Doug did just that. Doug was very kind-hearted and would have your back in a heartbeat. He was known as the “Catfish King” by many people. He would fish hard to catch enough to have catfish fries in many places. Doug’s friend, Roseann, said it best…“I’ve never seen anyone who made fishing look like an art, and to do it so effortlessly. It was a pleasure to witness.”
Doug was also a master of cribbage. And WOW! what a voice…that man could bring the house down.
He was also very knowledgeable about many different subjects. Doug’s smile would light up the room when there were kids or animals around. He loved his family and friends. He knew many people and called them all his friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Gene; mother, Angie; sister, Delores; brother, Duane; son, John; daughter, Kristy; great-nephew, Jaden; and great-niece, Devon.
Doug leaves behind his wife, Melody; siblings, Diane, Don, and Deb; nephews, Chad, Gene, and Duane; nieces, Leah, Amber, Marcy, and Misty; and pets, Pita and Boomer.
A Celebration of Doug’s life will be held from 1-4 pm on Saturday, June 4, 2023 at the I-Bar in Whitewood, SD.
Friends may sign his online guestbook and leave condolences for the family at blackhillsfuneralhome.com.
