DEADWOOD, S.D. – A pair of runners from Douglas won the races and Sturgis captured the team titles of the Lead-Deadwood Invitational Cross Country meet Tuesday.
Winning the boys race was Peyton Cast in a time of 18:23. Kennan Urdiales of Spearfish captured second and a trio of Sturgis runners came in third, fourth and fifth. They were Ty Petrocco, Deron Graf and Morgan Pappenfuss.
Winning the girls race was Kira Ubence in a time of 21:02.78. Peyton VanDeest and Kori Keil of Spearfish placed second and third and Prelsey Terkildsen of Philip was fourth.
Three Scoopers then placed fifth through seventh. They were Lucy Hamer, Iris Zylstra and Paige Willnerd. Scooper Brinna Sheldon came in ninth.
The Scooper boys and girls swept the team titles. The boys finished with 19 points, ahead of Douglas in second with 24.
The Girls won their team title with 23, ahead of Spearfish in second with 35.
