PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota’s ongoing battle with drought conditions is looking better after the recent winter weather storm.
The eastern part of the state received up to two inches of moisture in the past week.
Most of that fell over Sunday and Monday after some folks didn’t experience any rain or snow for over a month.
The drought monitor shows significant improvement after this week, with the moderate conditions diminished through much of the state. But the impact drops moving over into central and western South Dakota.
In western South Dakota, moderate drought is found along western Lawrence County to western Butte County and into most of Harding County. The Sturgis area and most of western Meade County is listed as abnormally dry.
