STURGIS, S.D. – Recent precipitation has helped the drought condition across portions of South Dakota.
The weekly drought monitor map was released yesterday and shows most of western South Dakota in the moderate condition. Far eastern Meade County is an exception – still listed in the severe to extreme drought category.
The heaviest area of drought remains in a pocket in far northeastern Meade County, into most of Ziebach and Haakon County.
Western North Dakota has dramatically improved this spring, with abnormally dry conditions reported with a pocket of moderate drought in northwestern North Dakota.
In northeast Wyoming and southeast Montana, severe to moderate drought is reported.
