Early morning fire destroys structure in Central City

DEADWOOD, S.D. – Fire crews from Lead-Deadwood, Whitewood and Spearfish battled a structure fire in the small community of Central City, between Lead and Deadwood, early Sunday morning.

Deadwood’s fire chief reported crews were sent to the scene around 4:30 Sunday morning.

The fire at 224 Central Main Street destroyed the structure. The structure was home to Stretch’s Glass and Custom Parts.

Firefighters battled gusty winds and cold temperatures in keeping the fire contained to the structure of origin.

No injuries have been reported, and an investigation into the cause was underway.
