STURGIS, S.D. – A structure fire in Sturgis this week has highlighted the need for community volunteers.
The early morning fire Monday on Edmunds Street in a four-plex left nine residents displaced.
The Black Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross and local volunteers are helping those residents find shelter and replace lost belongings.
The fire sent one person to the hospital with burns to his hands and smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
