Early Wednesday morning fire damages Box Elder home

BOX ELDER, S.D. – Box Elder firefighters joined other agencies in battle a structure fire early Wednesday morning.

The call came in around 7:30 a.m. as first responders were called to the 300 block of Hillview Drive in Box Elder for a report of smoke coming from a mobile home.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a single-story, occupied residence with a free burning fire and moderate smoke  condition.

Crews were able to confine the fire to the structure and hold it to a single alarm.

No injuries were reported from the occupants or firefighters.

The American Red Cross was assisting the homeowners and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
