ECHL suspends hockey operations due to COVID-19

RAPID CITY, S.D. -The ECHL announced Thursday it was suspending operations immediately due to the COVID-19 situation.

A release from the Rapid City Rush read as follows:

“The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, are proceeding within the guidelines set forth by the ECHL office regarding the remainder of the 2019-20 ECHL Regular Season, and the pandemic of COVID-19.

The ECHL has, effective immediately, suspended all ECHL hockey operations indefinitely until further notice.

This decision was made in accordance with the ECHL’s Board of Governors and Owners, and medical professionals in the interest of players, staff, and fan safety.

The Rush will communicate with our Corporate Partners, Season Ticket Holders, and other affected parties with additional information as soon as we are able to. We thank the Season Ticket Holders, Corporate Partners, and fans for their cooperation, patience, and understanding during this time.

We will announce protocol for the remainder of the season at a later date.”
