Eleanor Schweitzer

Eleanor Schweitzer, 90, of St. Onge, SD, died Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Rolling Hills Health care in Belle Fourche, SD.
Eleanor was born in Edmunds, North Dakota on July 5, 1933, to Edward and Pearl (Bush) Braun, one of 14 children! She grew up on the family farm and completed her education in Carrington, ND. In 1954 she married Howard Fritz Schweitzer.
Eleanor and Howard enjoyed trips to Branson, MO, and Memphis, TN, as well as camping and fishing with friends and family. Eleanor was a Master Gardner for many years selling and sharing her abundance of produce. She was an active volunteer at the food pantry, a 26-year member of the St. Onge United Church of Christ, the cribbage club and a regular at the Community Hall.
She is survived by her sons, Doug and Dean Schweitzer; siblings, Lillian Theisen, Kalispell, MT, Robert and Leona Braun, Jamestown, ND, and Ann (David) Lindberg, Litchfield, MN; brothers-in-law, Leo (Faye) Schweitzer, Bismarck, ND and Gene Pfarr, St. Onge, SD; lots of nieces and nephews; and good friends, Judy and Joe Russell, St. Onge.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Pearl; and parents-in-law, Fred and Alice Schweitzer.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 2, 5:00-7:00 p.m., Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis, SD. Memorial Service will be at the Chapel on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 10:30 a.m.
Inurnment will follow at 11:30 A.M. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
A memorial has been established to the Congregational Church of St. Onge, SD.
