Eleven new deaths reported in Thursday COVID-19 update

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported eleven new COVID-19 related deaths Thursday, sending the state’s death toll to 2,430. Of the new deaths, Pennington County reported two and Butte and Meade County each reported one.

There were 513 new cases today with 117 of those listed under the probable category.

Active cases increased a bit to 7,080 and the number of people hospitalized due to the virus fell slightly to 268.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County added 51 total new cases Thursday. If those, 8 were listed as probable.

Meade County had 12 total new cases with 3 of those probable, and Lawrence County had 11 confirmed new cases.

Elsewhere, Custer County added 7 new cases, Butte County listed 4, Fall River  County tallied 3, Oglala Lakota County had two and Harding County reported a new case.
