Event leaders after Thursday’s action at the SD High School Rodeo Finals

FORT PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota High School Rodeo Finals are starting to heat up in Fort Pierre.

On Thursday, Landry Haugen, a Sturgis sophomore, added to her gold buckle winning performance in girls cutting with an event-leading time in the pole bending. Haugen also has a second place run in the barrel racing.

Another Sturgis athlete, Clint Donaldson, sits atop the leaderboard in saddle bronc with a 64-point ride Thursday.

Here are event leaders after the first go:

Breakaway roping – Charlie Henwood of Belle Fourche, 2.47-seconds; Pole bending – Landry Haugen of Sturgis, 20.615-seconds ; Goat tying – Acelyn Brink of Newell, 7.52-seconds; Bareback – Cooper Filipek of Rapid City, 71-point ride; Barrel racing – Jaycie West of New Underwood, 16.277-seconds; Steer wrestling – Logan Lemmel Whitewood, 6.95-seconds; Saddle bronc – Clint Donaldson of Sturgis, 64-point ride; Tiedown roping – Linkyn Petersek of Colome, 9.50-seconds; Bull riding – Dylan Bradford of Selby, 74-point ride; Team roping – Justin and Jace Tekrony of Clear Lake, 7.44-seconds.
