SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Faith Longhorns girls basketball team cruised to a 56-34 first round win over Howard as the State B Basketball Tournament opened in Spearfish today.
The Longhorns jumped out to a 20-8 first quarter lead and never looked back.
The Longhorns had three players in double figures, led by Sophomore Kaycee Groves, who was 4 of 7 from beyond the 3-point arc for a total of 17 points. She also pulled down a team-leading 8 rebounds.
Sydnie Schauer and Lindsey Wilken each added 14 points for the Longhorns.
Faith shot a red hot 40-percent from the floor and was 43-percent from beyond the three-point arc.
Up next for Faith will be top-seeded Corsica-Stickney, who won their opening round game 65-42 over Irene-Wakonda.
