Faith Stock Show & Rodeo holds bronc futurity ahead of PRCA Matched Bronc Ride

FAITH, SD – From a carnival midway to plenty of arena action, there is a full slate of activities planned for the 113th Faith Stock Show and Rodeo.

The world of bucking horse futurities sees some of the best bronc talent come into its own in futurities, where young horses are dummy bucked to give prospective buyers an idea as to whether they want the horse added to their string.  The FSS&R World Bucking Futurity starts at 10a.m., Wed., Aug. 9 These futurities can establish PRCA world champion bucking stock, a number of which have come out of the futurity at the Faith Stock Show & Rodeo.

“If you like to see up and coming broncs, be in Faith Wednesday morning,” said Fordyce.  “We’ll be dummy bucking with a rigging and flank strap with two and three-year-olds being bucked out.  It will be some great watching.”

She added, “There are some young, stand-out broncs in our region.  Stock contractors will be in the seats for this one, looking to add to their bucking strings.”

The annual  “Riding For Pedro” saddle bronc competition gets  underway at 6pm.

“This event is dedicated to a young, rough stock cowboy who passed away too soon,” shared Fordyce.  “Pedro was from Philip, S.D. and a freshman at Philip High School. He continues to inspire high school rodeo athletes.”

This years’ high school saddle bronc riders are Toarin Humble, Faith, Tait Eaton, Belle Fourche,  Easton West, New Underwood, Lanny Brooks, Faith, Cade Costello, Reva, and Tyler Martin, Faith.

As stand-alone bronc matches go, the one in Faith is a barn-burner and the final one where cowboys can earn points towards the PRCA Xtreme Broncs Finals. Arena action begins at 7p.m. according to event producer, Rory Lemmel.

“It’s the first elite bronc riding around this country, it remains that way Its on the top of the list for these professional cowboys  who are looking for a berth to the PRCA Xtreme Bronc Match Finals held later in August as well as the PRCA National Finals in December.”

The first 500 people to arrive for the bronc match will enjoy a free meal with their ticket, courtesy of Faith Livestock Auction.
