STURGIS, S.D. – The South Dakota Beef Industry Council is hosting Chef Rika Yukimasa’s visit to the United States for the American Beef Journey this week. Yukimasa, known for her NHK TV cooking show “Dining with the Chef,” is touring South Dakota beef farms, ranches, and key sectors, promoting beef as a leading economic driver in the state.
Chef Yukimasa is renowned for her culinary expertise and bestselling cookbooks, with her television show airing in 150 countries, including the US. With a background in U.C. Berkeley and California, she has a deep understanding of the American palate.
At the Sturgis Brewing Company last night, the Beef Industry Council hosted a Japanese Cuisine Meet and Greet event. Chef Yukimasa and Food Network Celebrity Justin Warner were on hand to for various preparation techniques and serving options for various value cuts of beef in Japan.
Warner says it’s a great way to get a glimpse into how another country is able to put its spin on what many in the US are used to,
Attendees participated in a beef and beer pairing experience and there was an open question and answer session.
Warner says this collaboration aims to not only promote South Dakota’s beef, but also to instill confidence in consumers when making purchasing decisions.
