Fire burning northeast of Gillette is 40-percent contained

GILLETTE, Wyo. – Fire crews in northeast Wyoming say they have a fire burning in Campbell County 40-percent contained.

The Dry Fork Fire, northeast of Gillette was reported Sunday near Heald Road.

The fire has consumed an estimated 3,197 acres of brush and timber.

There are 87 firefighters assigned to the fire from multiple agencies from around the area.

Conditions for fighting the fire have been brutal for fire crews. A red flag warning for the area is in effect again today.

There were structures being threatened, but there is no word if any have been lost. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
