PENNINGTON COUNTY, S.D. — Multiple fire departments responded to several small fires that burned along Interstate 90 from mile markers 51 to 54.
The crews were able to extinguish the fires that were causing a hazard of smoke along the roadways.
The responding crews that made quick work of the fires were Great Plains, North Haines, Rapid City, Black Hawk and Piedmont Fire Departments.
There was no official word on the cause of the fires.
