Fire crews battle grass fire near Rapid City Regional Airport

RAPID CITY, S.D. – For the second day in a row, fire crews battled a grass fire about three miles from Rapid City Regional Airport off Longview Road.

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office posted on their Twitter to warn people about the fire in the area, and that Longview Road was closed.

Fire crews spent Friday afternoon and early evening containing the blaze and by nightfall, reported the blaze was contained and Longview Road had been reopened.

The fire was in the same area as a fire that crews responded to on Thursday.

Great Plains Fire reported the blaze at 182 acres Friday night.
