Fire destroys motorhome, damages home in Black Hawk

BLACK HAWK, S.D. – Area fire crews responded to an R.V. fire on Friday afternoon in Black Hawk.

The Black Hawk Fire Department says they were dispatched to the 6500 block of Logan Street for a motorhome on fire.

Local law enforcement arrived on scene first and advised the motorhome was starting to burn the house. With the given information, it was upgraded to a structure fire.

Witnesses reported hearing an explosion as the fire destroyed the motorhome.

Rapid City Fire Department, Piedmont Fire and Ambulance Service, North Haines Volunteer Fire Department, and Whispering Pines Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to assist.

Quick work from all firefighters on scene put the fire out before it extended into the house too far.
