ROCKERVILLE, S.D. – A home was destroyed by fire Monday in the Rockerville area.
The Rockerville Fire Department says they were paged to Earl Ct. for the structure fire around 1:00 p.m. and upon arrival, heavy black smoke was visible.
Fire crews says free-burning structure fire was reported and they pulled a second alarm for water and manpower.
After knockdown of the fire, mutual aid agencies were released.
Rockerville units remained on scene monitoring the fire.
Fire officials say everything is contained to the structure itself. The fire continued to burn overnight due to the size of the logs on the log home.
No human injuries were reported, however, the family lost their dog in the fire.
The fire’s cause is under investigation.
