STURGIS, S.D. – Sturgis, Fort Meade and Whitewood fire crews battled a structure fire on Old Stone Road in Sturgis overnight.
Sturgis Fire Chief Scott Lensegrav says they were called to the scene around 12:30 and first arriving units found an active fire burning on the northwest corner of the Believer’s Fellowship Church. The wind driven fire eventually pushed to the structure’s attic and roof.
The fire heavily damaged the structure.
Lensegrav says crews remained on scene battling the fire for several hours.
He says no injuries were reported an no one was inside the building when the fire broke out.
An investigator will be on scene today to look into the cause of the fire.
