FAIRBURN, S.D. —Dry, windy conditions were fanning a wildfire Saturday in eastern Custer County. Fire crews continued their battle of the fire on Sunday.
Firefighters from around the region were battling the Agate Bed Fire, which was reported Saturday afternoon about nine miles east of Fairburn.
Brian Daunt, Zone Fire Management Officer for Buffalo Gap National Grassland and Incident Commander for the Agate Bed Fire, estimates the fire at 10% containment and 2,000 acres on Sunday morning.
No structures are threatened at this time.
Crews say conditions are improving and they anticipate major progress on the fire today.
The fire is under investigation but is believed to be human-caused.
