STURGIS, S.D. – A new event has helped kick off the 82nd Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
The first annual Sturgis Police Chief’s Ride left the Sturgis Community Center Wednesday morning for a breathtaking ride through the Black Hills.
Chief Geody VanDewater says the ride will benefit some of his favorite non-profit groups.
The 25 riders met behind the Sturgis Community Center before heading out for the ride, which began at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Among the attendees were various law enforcement officers from around the country in town to participate in this year’s rally.
