First ever Sturgis FamFest to be held April 30

STURGIS, S.D. – The South Dakota Statewide Family Engagement Center will be hosting the first ever FamFest in downtown Sturgis on Saturday, April 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Children 3-7 years of age and their families visit local businesses to received fun and engaging early learning activities.

Families start at the Sturgis Auditorium on Main Street to receive a map of participating businesses. The Auditorium will also have resources, refreshments and storytimes with author Jessie Taken Alive-Recountre at 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Attendees will receive a freeĀ  copy of her book, ‘We Are All Related.’

South Dakota Statewide Family Engagement Learning Specialist Megan Handshue says “we have a lot of fun things planned and the participating businesses are excited to be welcoming families. It coincides with the Sturgis City Wide yardd sale, so bring the whole family to make a day of it in the area.”
