First Go wraps up at State High School Rodeo Finals

PIERRE, S.D. – First-go action at the South Dakota State High School Rodeo Finals wrapped up Thursday in Pierre.

In the Bareback Riding, Sturgis’ Kashton Ford and Devon Moore of Clear Lake had the top score of 68.

In the Barrel Racing, Piper Cordes turned in the best time of 17.798 – just ahead of Claire Verhulst of Reva with a 17.824. Landry Haugen of Sturgis was ninth after the first go.

In the Breakaway Roping, Josie Mousel of Colman had the fatest time of 2.9230. Onida’s Taylor Burgee was second with a 3.020.

Bull Riding saw Kash Krogman of New Underwood turn in the top ride of the day – a 76 to put him in first. Fruitdale’s Reece Reder was second with a 59 point ride.

In the Goat Tying, Brylee Grubb wins the first go in a time of 7.250. Right on her heels in Landry Haugen with a time of 7.430.

In the Pole Bending, Taylor McGregor of Canistota had the top time of 20.680 and Eastan West of New Underwood leads the Saddle Bronc with a 72 point ride.

In the Steer Wrestling, Terran Talsma of Springfield wins the first go in a time of 5.210.

In the Team Roping, Rance Bowden and Sern Weishaar of Belle Fourche have the lead with a time of 8.110.

And, in the Tiedown. Grey Gilbert of Buffalo wins the first go with a time of 11.830.
