STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Art Walk took place Saturday as part of the annual Sturgis Arts Festival.
Five new scupltures featuring local and regional artists were unveiled on Sturgis’ Main Street.
The first unveiling was ‘Conceptual Guitar,’ whose artist is Jefferson Davis. The sculpture at Main and Third Street features parts of a motorcycle melded into a guitar.
The second unveiling was ‘Where the Buffalo Roam,’ a sculpture that consists of medallions welded together to form the bust and hat of the piece. The sculpture is by P. Vogelaar of British Columbia. It is located in front of the Hotel Sturgis at the corner of Harley Davidson Way.
The third sculpture was ‘Cimmaron,’ located at the corner of First and Main Street. It’s artist is Travis Sorensen of Sturgis.
The fourth sculpture unveiled was ‘Paperboy,’ which features a tribute to the paperboys of long ago. Artists are L. Leuning & S Treeby.
And the fifth sculpture, ‘Four Seasons,’ is located at Main and Junction by Andy Roltgen.
The Art Walk was sponsored by the Sturgis Downtown Foundation, Downtown Business Improvement District, Sturgis Area Arts Council, Greater Sturgis Foundation and the City of Sturgis.
