Floyd Eugene Lund

Floyd was born November 26, 1934, to Peder and Margrethe Lund on a farm near Arlington, South Dakota. He had one brother and later two more brothers and a sister. Floyd attended grade schools in South Dakota and Duluth, Minnesota. In 1950, his parents bought a farm near Oldham, SD and he began working on farms, helping an uncle in a bakery, cutting river ice for ice houses, and he worked at a quarry in Dell Rapids. In 1958 he married Lily Walker in Bryant, SD, who was a rural school teacher. She continued teaching while they were on farms near Howard, Arlington, and Madison before buying land near Carthage. They lived near Carthage for 34 years. While living there, three sons and a daughter were born. They had wonderful neighbors and hosted many parties. Floyd farmed, did custom work, operated a hay grinder, raised stock cattle and milk cows, had a trucking company with his brother, and did many odd jobs. After farming, he decided to try something new, they bought a home in Rockerville and he started doing carpentry work. He made improvements to his home, and did work building decks, plumbing, and other type jobs. They joined South Park United Church of Christ and found many wonderful friends.

Through the years, Floyd had many enjoyments such as snowmobiling (Governors Cup, Winnipeg 500, lots of riding), spending time with his brothers, using his 5th wheel camper, many vacations with their timeshare, going on cruises, four wheeling, buying pickups, Christmas celebrations, family visits and playing cards.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Lily; sons, Steven (Bobbi) Lund, Howard, SD, Jeffrey (Barbara) Lund, Iroquois, SD, Brian (Kari) Lund, Hermosa, SD; daughter, Brenda (Scott) Brastrup, Gillette, WY; eight grandchildren, Austin, Derek, Bradlee, Dalton, Spencer, Michael, Kaylee, and Brayden; four great grandchildren; brother, Don Lund, Quartzsite, Arizona; sister, Myrna (Dennis) Poulisse, Lake Preston, SD; brother, Duane (Myrna) Lund, Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Beth; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
