PIERRE, S.D. – For the second day in a row, South Dakota reported four COVID-19 related deaths in Minnehaha County as the total number of cases increased by 76 in the Friday report.
On Thursday, two deaths were listed at 80-years-old or older, while one was 70-79-years-old and the other was 60-69-years-old. Two of the new deaths were males and two were females.
There have been 16 deaths in Minnehaha County, which has 2,089 cumulative cases. The statewide death total is now 21.
Among the new cases, Pennington County reported one additional case today for a total of 13 cumulative and 2 active cases. Todd County recorded its first positive test today and Stanley County reported an additional case for a cumulative total of 8. Other cases include 51 in Minnehaha, 4 in Roberts, 3 each in Brown, Day and Union and one each in Dewey, Hughes and Yankton.
Active cases are at 818, down from Thursday’s 859.
Current hospitalizations are now at 69, down from Thursday’s 76. Total hospitalizations are up though at 179 and the state reported 6 new hospitalizations in their Friday report.
There have been 14,838 negative cases, up from Thursday’s 14,579. A total of 335 new tests were reported Friday, including 7 negative tests in Meade County and 12 in Lawrence.
