RAPID CITY, S.D. – Around 2700 jobs with the USDA Forest Service are coming open across the region and many of them are right here in the Black Hills.
Most of the jobs are seasonal work for next summer but some of them are full-time permanent positions. Forest officials say people could expect to fill any number of roles for the national forest.
Krista Landreneau, program specialist for the Black Hills National Forest said, “They’ll range from recreation, working in the wilderness, wildland firefighting, wildlife biology, timber, and heritage archeology as well as front desk customer service.”
Landreneau said most of the open positions are entry-level, and don’t require a degree – and many can lead to full-time employment with the forest service.
The jobs officially open Thursday, Oct. 26, and will remain open through Nov. 8. Anyone interested and view the job listings and apply online at usajobs.gov.
