Former Bison, S.D. woman victim of what North Carolina police call ‘murder-suicide’

BISON, S.D. – A former Bison, South Dakota woman has died in what North Carolina police are calling a murder-suicide.

Whispering Pines, North Carolina Police Chief Jason Graham told the Sandhills Sentinel newspaper that they were called to a home for a psychiatric/suicide attempt on September 6th. He says upon arrival, officers reported finding two bodies inside the residence suffering from gunshot wounds.

The two were identified as David and Amber Jensen, ages 47.

Amber Jensen, whose full name is Amber Christine Beld Jensen, is previously from the Bison area. Evanson Jensen Funeral Home lists her funeral services for Saturday, September 17 as the Bison school gymnasium, where she spent many hours in school. She was active in basketball, where she helped lead her team to their first ever state tournament appearance in 1993.

Graham says the investigation is leading them to believe this was a murder suicide and no foul play is suspected.

The Jensen’s are survived by two adult children, Jaleigh and Colton.
