Former owner of Charm Farm to pay restitution, court fees

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The former owner of an animal sanctuary has been sentenced in Meade County court on a variety of misdemeanor convictions.

Tamara Lile, former owner of the Charm Farm, won’t serve any jail time, but will pay more than $7,000 in restitution and court fees.

Lile had faced numerous animal neglect charges over a two year period. Court documents indicate she was often traveling to Denver for cancer treatment during this time and she says others hired to care for the animals did not have a full understanding of the poor conditions the animals were found to be living in.

Lile was also ordered to pay over $800 in restitution to her neighbor for chickens that were allegedly killed by her dog.

Lile has said she plans on moving to Oregon, but will not be allowed to own animals in Meade County in the meantime.
