RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man is expected to plead guilty to a child pornography charge after admitting to viewing and collecting child pornography.
Javier Moreno, 41, was arrested in May 2021 for both receipt and possession of child pornography.
In a plea deal filed in federal court Monday, Moreno is expected to plead guilty to the receipt charge in exchange for the other being dropped.
Moreno is a former Black Hills Area Coordinator for the Salvation Army.
According to court documents, Moreno confessed to agents that he had been viewing and collecting child pornography since the early 2000s. He also admitted to distributing child pornography.
A change of plea hearing has not yet been scheduled. Pleading guilty to receipt of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum five years in prison and up to 20 years.
