RAPID CITY, S.D. – A former VFW commander from Box Elder was sentenced in federal court Tuesday afternoon to life behind bars for enticing and sexually exploiting a minor.
Adam Swift was arrested in March 2020 after trying to set up a sexual encounter with a minor.
He faced multiple sex crimes against children, three of which were dropped after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors.
Swift was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment for sexual exploitation of a minor, and life imprisonment for attempted enticement of a minor using the internet. His sentences are to run concurrently.
He was also ordered to pay restitution.
