PIERRE, S.D. – There were four new COVID-19 related deaths according to the report out today by the Department of Health.
Among the new deaths were one in Pennington, one in Buffalo, one in Beadle County and one out of Lyman County. Two of the victims are reported in the 80+ year age range and two are reported in the 60-69 year range.
The state’s death toll is now 97.
There were 67 new cases of COVID-19 with 13 of those in Pennington County. The county’s cumulative total rises to 536 and there are 122 active cases.
Other cases across western South Dakota include 3 in Lyman and one each in Custer, Mellette, Oglala Lakota and Tripp counties.
The state’s active caseload is up 14 to 814 and the number of people currently hospitalized is 64 – down one from yesterday.
Throughout the pandemic, there have been 75,048 negative test results reported as of Thursday, up 931 from Wednesday (74,117). There were a total of 998 test results reported Thursday.
