PIERRE, S.D. – The Friday COVID-19 report from the South Dakota Department of Health showed 877 new cases of the virus statewide. However, the department did say that 676 of cases reported today are due to historical reporting from a healthcare facility.
Active cases continue to see a decline, down nearly 700 to 8,465 today.
Hospitalizations also continue to see a decrease, totaling 222 Friday.
There were six new deaths among cases reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,772. Pennington County accounted for two of the deaths and Lawrence County accounted for another.
New cases across the Black Hills area included 24 out of Pennington and Meade Counties and 8 out of Lawrence County.
Elsewhere, Custer County listed 5, Butte County had 3 and both Fall River and Oglala Lakota County each reported 4 new cases.
