PHILIP, SD – Adding to this years Scotty Philip Days Aug. 13-15, the Haakon/Jackson 4-H Achievement Days will also be in full swing this coming weekend during the annual celebration.
The 4-H Livestock Show will begin at 8am, Aug. 13. There is the Noon Burger Bust followed by judging of exhibits at the American Legion Hall. On Sat. Aug. 14, a Talk Off begins at noon followed by Project Runway.
Johnathan May, a comedian and magician, will perform at 6:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts building of the Philip School on Friday. For approximately an hour before the show, Johnathan May will be around town and at the inflatable games making balloon animals and visiting with area kids and young at heart. At 6:30 p.m. be ready for some family friendly entertainment at the Philip School.
The Inflatable Games will greet kids and people of all ages during Friday’s activities as well.
Great rodeo is always a part of Scotty Philip Days with SDRA Rodeo action getting underway Fri., Aug. 13 and again on Sat., Aug. 14 both at 7pm at the Philip Arena.
All that fun sets the stage for Sat., Aug. 14 that includes a 5K run, parade, inflatable games, and water games on the street in front of the Philip Fire Hall.
Themed “Olympics” the parade starts to roll at 10am. The afternoon events include a Corn Hole Tournament on Center Avenue or take in the “Battle of the Sexes” Chicken Dropping on Main Street, both at 1pm.
Then get ready to rumble with the annual Philip Fire Department’s Demolition Derby beginning at 4:00 p.m. on the south side of Lake Waggoner. Wrap up the evening with more rodeo action at the SDRA Rodeo performance at 7pm.
Breakfast with the Knights of Columbus on Sun., Aug. 15 beginning at 7am at the Senior Citizen’s Center. Then at both 9am and 1pm, it’s The Spud Gittings Memorial Golf Tournament at the Lake Waggoner Golf Course.
