STURGIS, S.D. – A Monday recount confirmed a June primary election win for Representative Gary Cammack.
Cammack unofficially won the second available seat in the House by defeating Kathy Rice 2,102 to 2,070.
Rice requested a recount, and Meade County Auditor Helen Hall Jensen said both Cammack and Rice were present for the Monday recount and ultimately both candidates picked up one vote each.
The final tally on the recount showed Cammack with 2,103 votes and Rice with 2,076.
Cammack will join Kirk Chaffee in Pierre representing the District 29 House.
