Gavin Klynsma

Gavin Klynsma

Sorrowfully, on January 29, 2024 the world lost a benevolent human being but gained an angel in the sky. Gavin Klynsma grew up in Rapid City and then moved to Newell, SD where he attended and graduated from Newell High School. He then attended Mitchell Tech for two years before moving to Liberty, MO to work with the railroad.  After living a few years in Missouri, he moved back to South Dakota.

Gavin was a genuine soul. Anyone that ever met or crossed paths with him knew he always kept an open and caring ear. A man that would listen first and talk last. It was also undeniable that he would help or do anything for anyone, especially those he held close to him. Gavin was a person that showed courage in the face of adversity. A person that even when enduring hardships, put others first before himself.

Things he enjoyed and loved most in life were nature (especially beautiful skies, sunsets and storms). He also loved cars, bike riding, playing video games, listening to music and singing. There will never be a perfect time to say goodbye and hearts are torn by those that love Gavin. He will not be forgotten and may he forever be at ease and resting in absolute peace.

Survivors include his father, Ken (Kimberly), Rapid City; mother, Linda, Box Elder; three brothers David (Hayley), Spearfish, Blake (Cady), Rapid City, and Allex, Rapid City; three sisters Heather, Sioux Falls, Cassidy, Box Elder and Holly (Tyler), Hot Springs; seven nieces and nephews; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother Adam.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24 at 11:00 am at the Atonement Lutheran Church, 602 Auburn Street, Rapid City, SD 57701.
