Gene Goff

Gene Goff

Gene Goff was born in White Owl, SD on June 14, 1944 to Arthur “Tacky” Goff and Rose (Durston) Goff. He attended school in Tilford, SD. He later enlisted and served in the US Navy, being honorably discharged on May 14, 1968. On March 17, 1969 he married Caryl Ann Daum. To this union of wedded bliss three wonderful children were born; Jerry (Lori), Terry (Chelsey), and Tase (Jeremy).
Gene was a rancher and farmer for several years in the Belle Fourche/St. Onge and Tilford areas. He was later employed by the City of Sturgis in the Maintenance Department. His duties included running every piece of machinery they had including street pavers, road graders and plowing and sanding the streets in the winter months. He also worked as a reserve police officer during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, drove for the ambulance service, was a Lieutenant for the Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department, and worked with their Search and Rescue Teams.
In his spare time, he enjoyed doing carpentry work, mowing yards, shoveling snow, and various other odd jobs – and he did it all with a smile on his face! Gene was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Sturgis, SD, The Red Dale Camping Club and Good Sam Camping Group. Gene was so much fun to be around and loved to play pranks on people – especially on his family! He loved everybody and everybody loved him. He was an awesome husband, father, and grandfather.
