Genevieve Ann (Robinson) Thie passed away on March 21, 2024.
Ann was born in Aledo, Illinois on September 4, 1939, and lived in Iowa prior to her marriage to Irvin Thie in 1977. She was proud to have been a high school mathematics teacher for 33 years, 15 of those in Iowa and 18 in Florida. Irvin and Ann moved to Spearfish from Apollo Beach Florida after their retirement. They traveled together extensively until Irvin’s death in 2010. After his death Ann continued to travel, enjoy golf, attend local plays, concerts, athletic events with friends, and visit with family members in Florida and Iowa.
Ann is survived by stepdaughter Vyona Hetzendorfer, stepson Daryl (Penny) Thie; grandchildren Morgan Thie, Eryn (Blane) Hartzog, Eric Hetzendorfer, Kevin (Courtney) Hetzendorfer, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Leroy, and Wilma Robinson; her birth parents Phillip Pospisil and Miriam Banowetz, natural brothers James Fox and Robert (Bob) Mefferd, and her husband Irvin.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on April 5, 2024 at All Angel’s Episcopal Church in Spearfish, followed by burial at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
