‘Glitz & Glam’ is theme for REALTORS for Kids Benefit Auction

DEADWOOD, SD – With a mission to create more opportunities for kids, the REALTORS for Kids has announced plans for its 18th annual benefit auction.

Over 400 people are expected to attend the event that is set for Friday, May 21 at The Lodge in Deadwood. The Glitz and Glam themed event will start the night off with a Silent Auction opening at 6pm and the Live Auction to follow at 7pm.

But Brandy Purcell Hartman, the Association Executive for the Mount Rushmore Area Association of Realtors, says it’s really a ‘come as you are’ kind of affair.

“Some people come completely dressed in the theme and some come in jeans,” she notes.  “We welcome everyone.  Whatever your ‘glitz and glam’ is, that’s what you should wear.”

Funds raised stay in the Northern Black Hills communities of Belle Fourche, Deadwood, Lead, Newell, Nisland, Spearfish, St. Onge, Sturgis and Vale.  Just last year, over 200 children received  financial assistance from REALTORS For Kids that has raised over $1,215,000 since it began its efforts in 2003.

“They came up with having a ‘fill in the gaps’ type of an organization to help those kiddo’s that need a hand up,” says Purcell Hartman.  “And we always like to say a hand up, not a hand out, because we’re  huge believers in making a positive difference in  these children’s lives.”

There will also be Storyboard of Families, a presentation that shares stories of courage and the positive effects REALTORS For Kids has had on entire families.

Both 10-person tables and individual tickets are available for the event that includes dinner and wine. Walk-ins are welcome but without a reserved ticket, there is no guarantee there will be a seat available.    Tables are sold for $500 and individual tickets are $50.

Auction items offer a variety …. everything from sporting packages to spa visits, fine art to fine spirits. The night’s auctioneers are Denny McKay and Adam Karrels.

“We wouldn’t be able to do this without all the realtor and community members and our amazing sponsors,” says Purcell Hartman. This years corporate sponsor is Pioneer Bank & Trust.
